We are always looking for interesting places to experience. There is so much in Italy to experience, some famous some not so famous. Everyplace is special in their own way.
Finally! After so many months I am able to travel to Italy for work on some projects! As luck would have it I got an invitation from the amazing Anna and Giuseppe, to spend a few days discovering the volcanic Island of Ischia off Napoli.
Ischia is not as famous as Capri, which you can see in the distance. But it has incredible charm, like a place of antique cultures - Greek, Etrucian, Roman, barbarian invasions. Even the Spanish at one point ruled here!
Since ancient times it was a place for tourism, known for its thermal baths and healing waters. Unfortunately not much of its unique architecture exists due to repeated earthquakes over time, but that mix of cultures is apparent everywhere.
I see it in it's colors, food, traditions, the attitude of its people, even in its versions of the Italian aperitivo!
With a landscape that reminds me of Greek myths and surrounded by the clear waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea!
Part 2
“La Mia Famiglia” (My Family) Everything Italians do centers around their family and loved ones — meals, work, social and free time...
I was there on an invitation to learn about Ischia for clients. Once there, it was non stop activities.
I stayed at a very comfortable hotel, visited ancient natural thermal baths, wonderful meals with their extended family on a farm, concern about my wellbeing and happiness (more about that in a later post), and genuine friendship.
I was worried that so much time was being spent on me, and I was a bother….Giuseppe told me “Don’t worry this is how I relax, spending time with friends”
